EirGen Pharma creates 20 new jobs in Waterford

Waterford specialist pharmaceuticals firm EirGen Pharma is to invest €3.3m in a major expansion programme, which will generate 20 new jobs over the next two years.

This will bring total employment at the plant to 40 and will see the firm expand its research and development and manufacturing operations in Waterford. The expansion is being supported by Enterprise Ireland.

EirGen focuses on the development and supply of niche highly potent drugs, mainly used in cancer treatment. It was established in 2005.

The company said its main focus for future export growth is on building on its current market success in the US and Europe and on expanding in new growth markets in Japan, Latin America, Asia and South Africa.
