FIDELITY INVESTMENTS® CELEBRATES OFFICIAL OPENING OF NEW DUBLIN OFFICE
Fidelity Investments®, one of the world’s largest providers of financial services, today celebrated the opening of its second Dublin office with a ceremony attended by An Tánaiste, Joan Burton TD and Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, and Fidelity executives and employees.
Earlier this year, Fidelity began to fill its newest office in Citywest, One Waterside – a space that boasts modern architecture and innovative work spaces – with employees working in technology and business operations roles. The firm plans to hire up to 200 new employees for a diverse set of roles that will continue to enable support for its global operations. Technology and business operations activities in Ireland cover the full investment management lifecycle, as well as key corporate services such as R&D, International Finance and Risk management.
Fidelity’s continued investment in Ireland is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
“Fidelity’s decision to open a second office in Dublin with the addition of 200 new employees is another very significant vote of confidence in Ireland’s economic recovery and our highly skilled workforce. Fidelity is recognized the world over for its innovative financial products and services, and will deliver tremendous career opportunities for its new employees. The Government, through the Action Plan for Jobs overseen by Minister Bruton, will continue its focus on promoting Ireland as the location of choice for financial services companies,” said Tánaiste Joan Burton TD.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton, who met senior Fidelity executives on a recent IDA mission to Boston, said: “Fidelity is a world-leading company, investing in global innovation, developing cutting edge products and services, and creating high-end jobs in Ireland. I am delighted to welcome this latest announcement of a further 200 jobs Ireland. International financial services is a sector we have specifically targeted as part of our Action Plan for Jobs, and we have put in place a range of measures to support extra jobs growth in this area, including the appointment of a Minister of State with specific responsibility in this area. In recent years we have seen jobs growth in this area, and today’s announcement is a major further boost.”
With offices in both Dublin and Galway, the majority of Fidelity Ireland employees are part of the company’s technology or business operations division. They are engaged in projects that touch almost every aspect of Fidelity’s businesses, including Asset Management, Retail and Institutional Brokerage, Workplace Investing, and Corporate Services global centers of excellence.
Fidelity originally set up operations in Ireland in 1996 for a number of strategic factors, including the advantages of being able to operate ahead of US markets, the well-educated and highly skilled workforce, and the collaborative partnerships with Irish universities.
“Our presence in Ireland is key to the success of our increasingly global servicing organization.” said Regina Sullivan, EVP Global Business Services at Fidelity Investments. “We are honoured to be a part of the business and larger community and are grateful that the Minister is able to join us for this exciting day as we celebrate our continued growth in Ireland.”
“Fidelity is one of the most well-known names in world finance,” said Martin Shanahan, CEO IDA Ireland. “Fidelity has established a range of operations in Ireland since they established here over 18 years ago. Fidelity’s capacity to run everything from research and development to international finance services from their Irish operation is a shining example of the breadth and quality of the talent we have available to multinationals. The financial services industry remains one of the strongest performing investment sectors for IDA Ireland.”
In 2012, Fidelity announced plans to hire 200 employees in the Dublin and Galway offices for positions in technology and operations. Nearly two years later, the firm’s presence has grown significantly with further plans to grow to more than 900 employees in the future.
