More Arnotts workers fear they could loose their job after 580 redundancies were announced last week. Mandate (Retail Union) has commenced talks about the future of 350 employees who run concessions in the store.

Concession workers are employed in the make up section but others work in the likes of River Island and GAP.

The job losses are part of a 1bn redevelopment project that will see 1200 jobs created in 2011 when the project is complete. This however is no comfort for staff who will be losing their job.

Creation of retail jobs – It has been reported that Ladbrokes have aggressive expansion plans for Ireland. Irish expansion is as a result of saturation in the UK Market. Expansion plans included the recent purchase of Eastwood’s bookmakers in the North.
