Arris to invest EUR4.5m in Cork
A US technology firm has announced that it will invest EUR4.5m in a research and development facility at its existing operations in Cork. Arris has its facility at the Cork Airport Business Park and currently employs 52 staff. The IDA backed project will strengthen development for the company specialising in technology for cable TV and broadband.
This represents better job news for the Cork region on a day when national media highlight the surge in unemployment figures. Figures indicated that there has been a 42% increase in unemployed in the last 12 months. FAS predict more doom and gloom with the unemployment rate to rise as high as 8%. But let’s not listen to predictions – as far as I can see economists, business experts and even the weathermen never seem to get it right.
