64 Jobs to go in Ireland – Avocent International
Another IT company has decided to relocate jobs from Ireland. Avocent International currently employs 1800 staff globally and 167 of these are based in Shannon and Dublin. The IT infrastructure company has key clients including Intel, Microsoft and Boeing. The recent announcement will see 64 jobs lost in Ireland with Shannon hardest hit. Avocent will be relocating a 1/3 of the Irish workforce to Singapore. The decision was made on the grounds of cost which are significantly less in Aisa. The has been all kinds of positive spin put on this story but fact remains that there is a continual exit of jobs from Ireland with cost attributed as the main reason. This is more bad news for Ireland not that we don’t have enough already with CSO figures announced.
