Ireland got a huge jobs boost from the gaming sector this week when GOA, mobile operator Orange’s online games unit, announced it was setting up an operations and customer support centre in Dublin. The company will locate at the Digital Hub and it will create 400 jobs.
GOA specialises in (MMORPG) – massively multiplayer online role playing games. These are online computer role-playing games (RPG) in which many players interact in a virtual world. World of Warcraft is one of the best know games and it has over 11 million monthly subscribers.

Motorola has announced 3,000 job cuts globally.
In Limerick there were job cuts at Dell with 400 temp staff loosing their jobs. This has raised general fears from the 3,000 permanent staff at the company.
Also in Limerick there are fears for 100 jobs at Flextronics. The company supports firms like Dell with Warehousing solutions and employs 290 staff in Limerick.
Finally
Banking and Finance was served a jobs blow with the announcement that CITCO will cuts jobs in the IFSC. Only a few months back it was reported off expansions for the company in Cork. This may now be put on the back burner.
