Sercom to cut 120 jobs at Limerick
Limerick based SerCom Solutions is set to make 120 staff redundant. Sercom are a supply chain specialist but will be discontinuing production and assembly in Limerick from May. Changing customer demand is cited as the reason for the jobs loss.
Sercom Solutions employs 312 staff in Limerick, Dublin, Poland, US and China. The China operation was set up in June 2006 and made 220 staff redundant in Dublin the previous year in a bid to reduce costs.
This news has resulted in mixed jobs news for the Limerick / Shannon region. It is further evidence of the fall of the manufacturing sector to low cost economies.
